Tyler Sloan

Set of skills I bring into this venture

Microfluidics device design and fabrication (traditional methods)
Cell/neuron culture and immunichemistry
Automated/semi-automated image analysis (microscopy)
Data visualization and algorithmic visual design
Programming and scripting in several languages (Matlab, R, imageJ, Processing (~Arduino)
Experimental biology (completing Ph.D.)

My motivation for being part of this venture

I want to work collaboratively with people of various backgrounds in an environment where I feel I'm supported to be creative. I want to find a way of mixing my love of science with my programming skills in an alternative career path than academia offers. I also want to have the intellectual freedom to attribute the time I see fit to various projects, and contribute in different ways at different times. I am also planning to start a business, so am interested in the possibility of interfacing with the SENSORICA network, and discovering the possibilities within.

A few (limited) examples of my data visualization in Processing can be seen here.
A few samples of my generative/data art, visual cellular models and artistic microscopy rendering can be seen here or here.
In a few months I should be able to also add my first author scientific publication to this area. Fingers crossed.
