Today, Joel continued the work on the PMMA fiber constriction device. He completed and tested the oven containing an omega-shaped nikel-chromium alloy wire. Previously, Joel wrote the manual for the REX C100 PID temperature controller, which will be used to set up the temperature profiles around the PMMA fiber. See Joel's main document for this project.
The next step is to build holders for the fiber, a mechanism to put the fiber under tension, and a switching mechanism to start heating and to stop heating when the fiber is pulled to a given length. Tibi supervised the work, Jonathan was informed about the electronics needed.

Jonathan advised Kevin to designed a new fiber grooving device. He brainstormed with Tibi and Enrique and came up with a brilliant 3D model. Next step is to perfect this design and build a prototype.
