Installation of Mosquito and first tests

November 14, 2012, we installed the Mosquito on the microscope and performed the first tests. The picture bellow shows the system without the xyz piezo, which will probably be ready in a few days.

We first installed and tested the bath. The bath was designed mostly by Ivan and Daniel.

We also tested the electrical stimulation on a mouse heart freshly dissected today by Ivan (sitting in the middle of the bath). The heart was beating!

After, we tested the Mosquito signal under the microscope. The video below shows the Mosquito signal on the right as the transducer is pushed by a glass needle (which sits on a micrometer).  


Problems to solve
  • figure out how to attach the sample to the transducer. We will try the myotak glue. [Ivan]  
  • finish the xyz piezo and see how it works. [Jonathan
  • try to integrate the CCD camera with the rest of the LabView program. [Tibi]
  • finish the microscope stage machining. [Daniel
