Project VIE

NOTE: This project is on hold now, because our collaboration with the CDEC Rosemont didn't go very well. This is why

Build the most advanced
open innovation center in the world!
We are collaborating with the CDEC RosemontHEC MontrealEcole des sciences de la gestion de l'UQAMInnovitech (and others) to build a 50,000 square feet Open Innovation Hub in Montreal.

This space will contain open source projects as well as startups who are willing to share resources and collaborate within this environment.
We call the sum of all open source projects (market-oriented or not) the Open Alliance.

Contact us to get involved.

Announcements

 Important updates
  • Mission and vision is stabilizing, with almost everyone adhering to it. We need to work on a list of values.
  • Branding: some people don't like the name VIE, and would like to rebrand the project - see document if you want to get involved.
  • Space: the negotiation for the building on Park Avenue is still not resolved yet. SENSORICA will expand its operations with Capitol Industries (same building it is in now), building a Robotics lab.  See photo album with visited spaces.
  • Services offered in the center are defined HERE. Yasir is now redefining his role to offer services to networks forming the Open Alliance.
  • Funding: a proposal for academic funding is under way with Soumaya, Mai and Genevieve. We are putting in place the mechanisms to fund a Robotics lab. See more on funding strategy
  • Governance: still working on the governance of VIE and of the Open Alliance.

  • Better coordination and collaboration for VIE Yasir et Tibi worked to consolidate the space for collaboration, now that we are including other networks/groups to be part of the process. They created a mailing list (which was also embedded in this page, you need to sign into your Google Account and be a member already in order to see all the communication within this same page) and a sub-folder within the general Project VIE folder into SENSORICA's database, with larger access. They also invited everyone involved in the SENSORICA Fridays! event to join these virtual spaces.
