Objectives

Design and create a system device for optical characterization of thin and transparent materials, as an open source project so it can have a maximum of social impact, and can be utilized and modified by communities around the world.

Description

Two axis directional gimbal platform featuring a brushless dc motor direct drive system and magnetic base micromanipulators, almost entirely 3D printed.

The main application of the device is the measurement of the quantum efficiency (QE) of photovoltaic cells. The device is essentially an automated tilt angle and rotation stage, capable of both tilt angle adjustments (from 0-90 degrees) and for rotation (0-360 degrees) with 1 degree accuracy. There are some additional elements for fixing the sample and for electrical connections.

Since the device will be distributed as CC-BY-SA, SENSORICA will have the right to commercialize it.

VENTURES are COLLABORATIVE, TRANSPARENT (anyone has access to the information that they produce) and OPEN (anyone can participate). They only produce deliverables based on OPEN SOURCE technology. VENTURES have a CUSTODIAN that represents them legally and acts as a trust for their tangible assets. VENTURES can have multiple EXCHANGE FIRMS, which are commercial entities that move products and services developed by VENTURES on the MARKET. EXCHANGE FIRMS oblige themselves by contract with the CUSTODIAN to share PROFIT with all contributors to VENTURES, from which they commercialize PRODUCTS.
