Design and implement new economic models for art and artists.
Can artists work sustainably and generate wealth without selling their art? Can artistic work be sustained through a new mod of production that operates outside the market, bypassing influential intermediaries that intervene in the art market today?
We believe that this is possible!
We intend to prototype a peer-to-peer platform that more fully extends the sharing, enjoyment and interactivity of artworks, using Internet of Things (IoT), Distributed Ledger Technologies (DLT) and Artificial Intelligence (AI). We are building on an established art circulation and presentation ecosystem, Soogart, developed by the founders of the Quebec Art Council (partner in this project). Soogart is an intermediary agency between painters and venues (residential houses, offices spaces, cafes and restaurants, etc.), where painters can display their art to gain public recognition, and generate revenue from rental fees or sales.
We plan to desintermediate the economic ecosystem built around Soogart, using a decentralized cryptoeconomic model, which will provide greater opportunities to artists and venues, and make art more available to the general public.

Background
This project was discussed for the first time in THIS doc with the name Artbacks. It was first proposed by Devin Balkind, discussed with Tibi at the Sensorica lab on February 27th 2017.
After that, the project was presented to Jennifer from the Quebec Arts Council and we decided to collaborate.
A funding proposal was fired to the Knights foundation, which was refused. But the project was also informally presented to Canada Heritage and they liked it. Next step is to submit to Canada Heritage.

IMPORTANT NOTE: This is a high stake project that requires professional collaborative practices.
